We were expecting a classic tale of rags to riches , but we were due for a surprise. The life of Coco Chanel was certainly the rise of a pauper orphan to sophisticated multi-millionairess but it was also a story packed with affairs, including with members of royalty and the aristocracy, ruthless business deals and wartime spying.
Our March speaker , Delia Taylor gave an interesting and lively presentation with illustrations, anecdotes, film clips and music which kept us spellbound throughout. Many of our ladies had taken up the invitation to dress for the occasion which made for an elegant audience !
Fashion will also be on the agenda later in the month when we`ll be taking a trip to the Fashion City Exhibition at The Museum of London Docklands , followed by a visit to Old Spitalfields Market.
Before that, we can look forward to an afternoon Easter Eggstravaganza , an opportunity for a sociable get-together with tea and cake, an Easy-Easter-Craft workshop and lots of chances to win a variety of seasonal prizes.
Next month should be thought-provoking as we`ll be discussing the 2024 National Resolution, but as usual there`ll be lots more going on too!
