“Bystanders can be Lifesavers!” is the title of the resolution we debated at our April meeting. Focusing on increasing confidence and training in CPR, if adopted by WIs nationwide, it will form the basis of our 2025 national campaign.

One of our members shared her personal experience of a heart attack, stressing how sudden and unexpected this can be and the importance of knowing what action to take.  We then explored background issues by playing a game of “Resolutions Bingo”, before splitting into small groups to discuss the points for and against the adoption of the proposal. Finally, we came together to share our thoughts and suggest practical steps we might take.

Ladies were full of ideas, ranging from a training and information get-together to advertising our campaign at community events and fund-raising for the British Heart Foundation and St John`s Ambulance. Look out for a coffee morning and one of our colourful post-box toppers later in the year…..

We rounded off the evening with tea and cakes and each lady was given a little Easter treat to take home.

Our May meeting will be our AGM when we`ll be looking back at the events of the year and electing our new committee. Rumour has it that a cream tea will be served.

In June we`ll be celebrating 107 years of Farningham WI at our birthday party. This is a members – only event but we`ll be welcoming visitors again in July.
